LEGENDARY INTERNATIONAL ROCK ACTS THE DOOBIE BROTHERS AND LITTLE RIVER BAND TO PERFORM AT TAUPO SUMMER CONCERT
Taupo Summer Concert Ltd is proud to announce its inaugural concert featuring international rock bands the Doobie Brothers and Little River Band to be held on Saturday 4th February 2012
The Taupo concert will be held on the long weekend (Waitangi Weekend) at the regions newest outdoor venue- the Taupo Amphitheatre – with locals in the Taupo district the first to get access to tickets at a special discounted offer. Director Amanda Calvert says ‘Taupo is the ideal location with great infrastructure, a large range of accommodation and plenty of wonderful hospitality. It is centrally located and will attract people from all over the North Island”

With performances spanning the seventies and eighties until today, the Doobie Brothers have enjoyed broad appeal, with hits such as ‘Listen to the Music’, ‘Long Train Runnin’’, and ‘What a Fool Believes’ and many many more. Little River Band has also had chart success through the last three decades – with classics including ‘Cool Change’, ‘The Other Guy’, and ‘Take it Easy On Me’ – and is often considered to be one of Australia’s most significant bands.
Taupo District Council chief executive Rob Williams says the concert will be a great addition to the summer event calendar.
“What a fantastic opportunity for Taupo to host yet another high profile event in our District,” says Mr Williams. “I know that everyone involved is so pleased to be working alongside Taupo Summer Concert Limited to bring stars of such international calibre and recognition to our amphitheatre, on the edge of the beautiful Waikato River and great Lake Taupo.”
A special number of pre release tickets will be made available to local Taupo people at $79 from Wednesday, 7 September at the I-Site in town.

Children under 11 years of age are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket holder.
Gates will open at 12noon and the concert commences from 1pm with New Zealand artist Annah Mac. Little River Band start at 3pm and the Doobie Brothers start at 5pm with the concert finishing around 6.30pm.
A wide range of quality food, beer and wine will be on sale at the event. Concert-goers are also able to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages.
